Adaptivo Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
Who we are
Adaptivo ("we," "us," "our") provides an AI-assisted endurance training app for runners and triathletes. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how it's used, and the rights you have. We are based in the United Kingdom and process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect
Account information
Email address, date of birth (collected to verify our minimum age requirement, see "Age requirements" below), and any profile details you provide (name, athletic experience, goals, race entries).
Health and fitness data
We collect training and physiological data either directly from you, from Apple Health, or from third-party services you connect. This includes:
- Heart rate, including heart rate variability (HRV) and resting heart rate
- Sleep duration and sleep-related metrics
- Stress and recovery indicators (e.g. Garmin's Body Battery, where available)
- Training activity data: pace, power, distance, duration, cadence, and similar workout metrics
Apple HealthKit: where connected, Adaptivo reads relevant health and fitness data from Apple Health to power your training recommendations. Adaptivo does not write data to Apple Health — access is read-only.
Nutrition data: where you use a connected food-logging app (such as MyFitnessPal) linked through Apple Health, Adaptivo may read nutrition-related entries, including meal names and macronutrient data, to support fueling and nutrition guidance features.
Location data
When you complete a workout with GPS data, we store the precise route data associated with that activity, including latitude/longitude points at intervals throughout the activity. This location data typically reaches us through a connected third-party service rather than a direct location permission request from the Adaptivo app itself, but it is precise location data linked to your account regardless of how it arrives.
Third-party training platform data
If you connect Strava, Garmin, or intervals.icu, we access activity, health, and performance data from those services via the connection method each provides (OAuth for Strava and Garmin; an API key you provide for intervals.icu).
Payment information
Adaptivo does not currently offer a paid subscription tier. If and when a paid tier launches, payment will be processed by a third-party payment provider, named in an updated version of this policy at that time. We will not directly store your full payment card details.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website does not currently use analytics or tracking cookies. It uses only what's technically necessary for basic site functionality, such as the waitlist signup form. If this changes, this policy will be updated to name the specific tools in use before they go live.
How we use your data
- To generate and adapt your training plan
- To provide coaching analysis, session feedback, and race predictions
- To provide nutrition and fueling guidance
- To communicate with you about your account or the service
- To maintain and improve the app's reliability and features
We do not use your health, fitness, or medical data for advertising, marketing, or data-mining purposes, and we do not sell this data to data brokers or any third party.
How your training plan is built
- Your core training schedule — the structure of your week, session types, and progression through training phases — is generated by deterministic, rules-based software Adaptivo has built. It is not written by AI.
- Coaching analysis and adaptive recommendations — session insights, weekly summaries, and adjustments to your plan based on your recent training and feedback — are generated using Anthropic's Claude AI, as described below.
AI processing (Anthropic / Claude)
Adaptivo uses Anthropic's Claude AI to generate coaching analysis, session insights, weekly summaries, and adaptive training recommendations (see above). To provide these features, relevant training and health data is sent to Anthropic's systems for processing — meaning some of your data leaves your device and Adaptivo's own servers to be processed by this third party as part of delivering the app's core coaching functionality.
Anthropic processes this data as our service provider for this purpose, under Anthropic's standard commercial API terms. Under these terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models, and does not retain prompt or response content beyond what's technically necessary to provide the service. Adaptivo does not currently hold a separate Zero Data Retention agreement with Anthropic; if that changes, this section will be updated to reflect it.
How we share data
- With the third-party services you connect (Strava, Garmin, intervals.icu) — only to the extent needed to sync your training data.
- With Anthropic, for AI-powered coaching features, as described above.
- With our infrastructure providers (hosting, database — our database is hosted in the EU) as needed to operate the service.
- We do not sell your personal or health data to anyone, for any purpose.
Your rights (UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018)
If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten") — see Deleting your account, below
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ico.org.uk
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@adaptivo.fit.
Your choices and rights (all users)
Disconnecting a connected service
You can disconnect Strava, Garmin, or intervals.icu at any time from within the app.
- Strava and Garmin: disconnecting genuinely revokes Adaptivo's access.
- intervals.icu: because this connection uses an API key you provide, Adaptivo cannot remotely invalidate this key. Disconnecting deletes it from our systems, but the key remains valid until you rotate or delete it directly within intervals.icu.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile > Danger Zone > Delete Account). This is immediate and complete — your account, profile, training history, and all associated data are permanently deleted, along with revoking third-party access where technically possible. This cannot be undone.
Accessing your data
Contact us at privacy@adaptivo.fit for a copy of your data.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately and permanently as described above.
Age requirements
Adaptivo is intended for users aged 16 and older. We verify this by collecting date of birth during account signup, and accounts that do not meet the minimum age requirement are not permitted to be created.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or by email.
